Dining Room

Snow outside. The only thing that's green are my houseplants.

Global Warming

This is the best global warming we've had in a long time.
Pup is not liking it very much.

Weiner Wednesday

Yes it's Weiner Wednesday! And here's my 12 year old Pup. For many years poor Pup was ignored by the he-man of the house but all that has changed. Now he-man has given him a human size blanket to keep him warm during the cold winter nights.

Pup is getting ready for bed but he sits quietly, longing for a treat. Do you see anticipation? The upward gazing at he-man? What a dog!

Apothecary Jar

I stated in my previous junkin' post that I had returned home Saturday empty handed but I realized that wasn't so. I forgot about this small apothecary jar I found at the thrift store. It was placed in the back seat of my car and forgotten about. Not sure what will go inside it yet.

Star Books Galore

One of reasons I haven't been around much is because of these star books. The book opens to form a star and photos are attached to the outside pages. I spent many hours cutting and cutting and cutting. It takes 7 sheets of 12x12 scrapbook paper to make up one book. So if I figure correctly that's 28 cuts per book. I cut 22 books so that's 616 cuts and I don't like to double up on the paper. I cut each sheet individual so each cut comes out just right.

Now I did get help putting them together. Wanda and Liz came over and we spent about 8 hours gluing paper and inking the covers. There's just one problem. This is just the beginning. I'm making these for every classmate attending our 35th high school class reunion in June. I think we will have to make up at least 60 books so I have lots more cutting to do.

On the last few photos I've inked the inside pages of the star book as well as the cover. I've included the instructions at the end of this post. I think the instructions are hard to follow so I'll take some step by step photos to go along with it and repost it.

Star Book Instructions
  • 7 sheets of double sided paper or cardstock (you can mix and match)
  • chipboard
  • adhesive
  • 1 yard of coordinating ribbon
  1. Cut all your double sided paper or cardstock into 4x12 strips and arrange them in front of you in three separate piles. (Note: out of each piece of paper you will get 3 of these 4x12 pieces and each of the 3 piles will have 7 strips in them.)
  2. Keeping your piles separate you will need to cut each pile to certain length: First pile of strips will be 4x12; second pile of strips will be 4x10; third pile of strips will be 4x8 (keep the little pieces you cut off)
  3. Keeping all you piles still separate; being folding each strip in each pile one at a time in half folding long ways.
  4. The star is made on one of each of your papers from your three piles; glued end to end. When you have glued all you papers together you should end up with 7 "points' of your star book.
  5. Take one complete star point and glue it to anther star point at the end. (Note: Do not glue them together at the folds.) You should end up with all the "ends" connected like a chain.
  6. Keeping all your points in a stack; wrap your yard of ribbon around the book and tie the ribbon in a bow to hold it centered and in place while you attach the covers.
  7. you will need two chipboard pieces that are cut to 4 1/2 x 6 1/8 inches. You may want to decorate your cover with the extra pieces of cardstock.
  8. Untie your ribbon and open your book into a beautiful star!!!!

Junkin and the Blue Moon Dive

Yesterday I decided I needed to get out of the house and do something different. John agreed to go junkin' with me.

We went to a couple of little stores then headed over to The Homestead Shoppe in Church Hill, TN. John dropped me off and while he ran an errand. When I got inside I was so thirsty and I could smell food! Located at the back of the shop is the Blue Moon Dive.

I got the Chicken Almond Melt, pasta salad and a huge ice tea. It was very yummy but I couldn't eat all of my sandwich. I sat and took photos. The place is so cute! John showed up and gulped down the rest of the sandwich.

I left empty handed. No junk for me but I did get these photos!

Salt & Pepper Shakers

As I was wondering though Michael's I came upon this wedding favor ~ Two Peas in a Pod Salt and Pepper Shaker. Being the lover of all things little and cute it had to come home with me. And at a cost of less than $3.00. What more could I ask for.

Story Time

Looking for a warm story to share this cold evening and I found one. This story takes us back to the summertime when it was really hot. Can't really tell it by the photos but it was.

Takes place down by the river side.

That's my son on the far left.
Girls decided to put bleach on his hair.
The result ~ he looks like a skunk.
We all gather round for a 'wed-tisting'.

Even the cows came to join us.

I got a little worried but saw the electric wire.
That stopped the cows from coming any closer.

So what's a wed-tisting?
This couple got saved this year and decided to get married
and baptised at the same time.
